  1. Download the LCVO_PCDRVBETA_US_1_03_02.EXE file into your local hard disk.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the instructions on the screen.
• After installing the driver, you must select 2 channel audio format in Windows Vista before using your Live! Cam.

1. Click Start -> Control Panel -> Sound .
   Alternatively, right-click the Speaker icon on the taskbar.
2. Select Recording Devices -> Microphone (USB Audio Device) .
   
   Note : If there are other USB audio devices already installed on your computer, your Live! Cam may be displayed as Microphone (2-USB Audio Device) or Microphone (3-USB Audio Device), depending on the number of USB devices installed.
   
   To check which USB audio device is your Live! Cam
   Under Microphone Properties , click the General tab and click the Properties button. The Live! Cam Voice (Mic) Properties window appears and your Live! Cam is displayed as Live! Cam Voice (Mic) .
   
   
3. In the Microphone Properties window that appears, click the Advanced tab.
   Under Default Format , select 2 channel, 16-bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality) .

With beefed-up audio features, the Creative Live Cam Voice vf1070 is one of the best overall cameras for IM and Internet-based voiceconferencing.

The Creative Live Cam Voice comes with a single CD that includes drivers, a manual, and software. The bundled apps include Creative Muvee software for creating and editing basic videos; My Orb for accessing files such as remote-monitoring images from a computer or a PDA with an Internet connection; SightSpeed, a voice and video calling service; Creative WebCam Center for remote monitoring and taking time-lapse photographs, videos, and still photographs; and Creative Photo Manager, which organizes videos and still photos by date. This is a remarkable bundle, especially since many Webcams offer only basic photo and video software.

This is where a webcam such as the Creative Live! Cam Voice comes into its own. The microphone is built-in, so once you've installed the drivers all you have to do is plug in the webcam and you can see and talk without having to worry about anything else. The selling point that has enabled Creative to dig out its Live! name, is its noise cancelling technology that's designed to cut out extraneous noises in noisy environments so you can hear and be heard more clearly. If you do want to have a private conversation a lightweight single earpiece headset is provided.

The camera's built-in microphone is one of its most valuable assets. In our tests, the mic picked up a normal-level conversation from about 20 feet away. At closer range sound quality was average using normal mode, but with the Live Audio option selected, sound is and clearer with less background noise. The Directional Live Audio option was the most impressive, recording only sounds coming from directly in front of the microphone. We tested this by speaking loudly to the front and then loudly to the side of the microphone--from the side, no sound was audible.
